New Year, New Boo? (Dating Sunday and First Date Friday might help)

Happy New Year!

I can be a bit of a grinch about the New Year – (every single day holds as much possibility as January 1st, world!) – but here we are in 2019 and even I am feeling excited!

Are you with me? Are you psyched? Is 2019 going to be the year you fall in love??? Yes? Yes!

Your enthusiasm is contagious – so contagious that millions of people feel the same optimism (or skeptical optimism) as you do. Match projects that this coming Sunday – January 6th – will be the busiest day of the entire year for online dating.

This Sunday is known as Dating Sunday – when millions of new people come online looking for love, many for the first time. Which makes it an ideal time to join them before the eventual drop-off in activity around Valentines Day.

Match has a great idea that I completely co-sign – get online on Dating Sunday with the goal of going on a date on Friday, January 11th – First Date Friday.

Connect online on Sunday, meet IRL Friday. I love it!

First Date Friday is so brilliant because most people who use dating apps never go on a single date. It’s easy to get overwhelmed, discouraged or bored online. The best way to combat online dating fatigue is to set firm goals for yourself. First Date Friday can be one of those goals.

And what better time to commit yourself to it than now?

Other examples of dating goals are:

  • Match with and message 10 people per week

  • Go on at least 1 date per week

  • Message every person you match with

  • Stick with dating apps until you go on at least 6 dates, however long that takes

Whichever goal you come up with, be sure to commit to it! Find an accountability partner if you need to. Having a clear goal will keep you moving forward, and will keep you engaged in the process. Staying engaged will help you

First Date Friday could be your 1st dating goal of 2019. Want some advice on how to make it happen? Join me on Tuesday, January 8th on Match’s Instagram story, where I’ll be doing a live Q&A. Exact time TBD, but if you follow me @dearfranny, you’ll be the first to know.

If you can’t join us live, but still want to ask a question about online dating, you can leave your question as a comment below!

Here’s to a love, passion and joy filled 2019!
